Last chance to have a say on future of fire service

Residents have just a week left to let East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service know their views as it prepares to set its future priorities.

The fire service is beginning work on a new integrated risk management plan. This will look at the risks of emergencies such as fires within the communities of East Sussex, Brighton and Hove. It will then set out how best it can use the resources available to prevent emergencies and to respond to them.

It also wants the public’s views on a new purpose and four key commitments, which are making communities safer by delivering high performing services, building more resilient communities, developing a safe and multi-skilled workforce and making best use of its resources.

The survey can be found online at www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/X752HBM and closes on April 30.

The information will be used to help draw up detailed proposals and there will be further opportunities to take part in this work.

Chairman of East Sussex Fire Authority Phil Howson said: “East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is transforming and this is an important step in establishing our plans for the future. We want to hear from as many people as possible.

“We are becoming more dependent on funding from Business Rates and local Council Tax payers as central government grants are being reduced. It is only right that you have a chance to tell us what you think about our purpose and priorities.”
