Lauren in Snow White

It might not have been a white Christmas but for Lauren Gander at least it was a Snow White one.

The nine year old from Wychurst Gardens has been performing in pantomime in Canterbury alongside a celebrity cast.

She has been singing and dancing in Snow White which continues its run at the Marlowe Theatre until January 18.

Snow White is played by Emma Barton who is Honey in Eastenders while Muddles is Stephen Mulhern, a familiar face from ITV thanks to Animals do the Funniest Things and Britain's Got Talent.

Comedian Dave Lee plays Nurse Nellie - this is the Dame character - while Richard Hurst is Prince Charming, and American Broadway star Valerie Cutko is the wicked queen.

Lauren, a pupil at Netherfield school, is part of the juvenile chorus and is in five routines, mainly singing and dancing with Snow White herself.

There are three teams of child performers who take turns in the show but who will all appear together on stage for the last one and the final curtain.

Lauren is in five scenes with five costume changes for the different parts, including a major role as a rabbit for a forest scene with Snow White.

Her mother Linda said: "She then has another scene towards to the end where she is Elvis complete with dark glasses and black wig - now that is funny backstage.

"Lauren has loved every minute, she has worked through illness, bad colds, a chest infection and wobbly baby teeth that were very uncomfortable and painful at times, she lives the furthest and is the only child to have not missed any shows, appearing in 34 performances in all. Bless her.

"This has been the best thing that ever happened to her.

"We have seen it three times now and I think she is brilliant - it is one of her best performances and her dances have gone very well."

Lauren's next venture in showbiz will be to appear with Cheryl Baker from Bucks Fizz in A Chorus Line in Tunbridge Wells.
