Lions Club barn dance

THERE was quite a bit of fiddling going on over at Ninfield Memorial hall last week, but it was all in a good cause as the 'fiddlers' concerned were providing the music for the Bexhill Lions club annual barn dance & supper.

Over seventy energetic people, of all ages, attended the event, and danced the evening away to the resplendent tunes '“ including a 'mean fiddle' - performed by the talented musicians of well-known local band 'Spinning Jenny'.

Their popular 'Caller' for the evening better known as Jaqui, did an outstanding job, patiently giving instructions and attempting to keep everyone in step, and whilst occasionally that didn't always happen, the many happy, smiling faces proved that enjoying the dancing was more important that getting it exactly right.

Delicious pasties for the supper were supplied by Earls bakery, whilst ladies connected to the Lions club showed off their culinary skills and provided a range of scrumptious puddings.

Along with a well stocked raffle the popular event raised almost 400 for charity, which was a result that Bexhill Lions Club Fund-raising Officer Avril Earnshaw said she was "very pleased" with, and that the Lions particularly like to support local charities whenever possible.

She added: "It was a good fun mixed night that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, young and old."
