Little Angels spring fair

Cards, candles, cakes and clothes were all there to tempt visitors to the Little Angels spring fair at All Saints Church Hall on Saturday.

These were displayed alongside books, toys, bric-a-brac, jewellery, and household essentials, but there was also the chance to win prizes with the raffle and tombola.

Kathy Swatbridge, treasurer of the Little Angels committee, explained why the spring fair was an important event for the playgroup which currently has 20 children.

She said: "We are doing this fundraising to get the children more activity stuff and equipment for the playgroup - whatever they really need.

"We would like to get them more apparatus and more craft items."

Prizes and vouchers to be given as prizes in the raffle were donated by Ed's Barber Shop, Sidley Dry Cleaners, Wobbly Rabbit pet shop, and Whiskers. The event was also organised by committee members Emma Durrant and Pili Lucas, while Kristina Portelli handled face-painting, and raffles and the pound-in-the-bucket were down to Paul Crompton and V. Furlong.

Kathy has two children attending the playgroup: "They just enjoy coming, they do so many different activities. It is so warm and welcoming when they come in - it is a nice bunch of children that come in the nursery as well, all different ages and abilities."

Little Angels playgroup is held Monday - Friday mornings from 9am - 12.30.

Kathy added: "We are a very close bunch of mums - we do spend a lot of time with each other when our children are in the nursery, and we all get together. We have coffee mornings together as well, some of us."
