The insurance provider employs local people at its large base in Bexhill.

Contributing to The Pink Ribbon Foundation in support of breast cancer charities, Hastings Direct raised the money through its InsurePink campaign where £10 from every car and home, and £1 from every travel insurance policy sold online is donated to the cancer and well-being charities.

Smashing previous years’ totals, the generous donation will contribute towards the work of The Pink Ribbon Foundation who brings together individuals, charities and organisations in the fight against cancer. Supported groups include, the Newmarket Breast Cancer Support Group, Marie Curie Cancer Care, the Primrose Foundation and Cancer Counselling Trust.

Toby van der Meer, from Hastings Direct, said: “We are proud to continue our support of The Pink Ribbon Foundation and would like to thank our customers for their continued support of these good causes.”

Jonathan Prince, Trustee, The Pink Ribbon Foundation added: “We are thrilled with the considerable donation from Insure Pink and the ongoing support of their customers.

“The Pink Ribbon Foundation continues to offer support to those affected by breast cancer and give help to charities who work hard to raise awareness and give aid and advice to those touched by this terrible disease.

“Every year the Foundation invites charities concerned with breast cancer to apply for grants from the money raised.

“Operating in this way allows the Foundation to help charities both large and small – many of the small organisations rely on donations such as these to keep them going. We intend to continue to do this.”

Hastings Direct also helps local charities and community groups with its Helping Hand scheme.

Jay Wootton Community Liaison commented, “Last year we helped over 50 community groups and charities via our Helping Hand scheme - we are now looking at who we might be able to help in 2016”
