Margaret bows out

Bexhill Caring Community this week said farewell to Margaret Von Speyr who is leaving after five and a half years as manager.

Margaret said: "I want to thank all the churches, schools, Lions, Rotary, Masonic Lodges, Chamber of Commerce, Bexhill Observer, Rother District Council, businesses and residents in the town and particularly the staff and volunteers who have given me fantastic support during my time as Manager of the Charity."

She commented: "I have really enjoyed meeting so many people from different walks of life, and attending meetings to give talks about the many services the Bexhill Caring Community offers to the residents of Bexhill.

"The work of the Charity has expanded over the last few years, the Community Room is finished and being used by many organisations. The Day Centres are now part of the Bexhill Caring Community and all the services are running efficiently.

"Fund-raising has always been an uphill battle as there are many other organisations who also need help, but Bexhill Caring Community is probably the oldest Charity in the Town and helps at least 4000 in many ways so please continue to support them as they receive no grants and rely on legacies and donations.

"Christmas this year will be as busy as ever with many people benefiting from receiving a food hamper or a plant. Already the Charity is collecting tins, packets, jars, etc. which will be packed into hampers. Several schools and churches are also donating their harvest gifts to the campaign. Raffle tickets are now on sale to raise money towards the purchase of food vouchers.

"I am now looking forward to my retirement and hope that everyone will rally around my successor and give him the support that I have enjoyed over the last few years."
