Meeting forelection agents

A MEETING is being held to help agents prepare for the forthcoming district elections.

Rother District Council is holding an informative meeting on February 25 at 10am in the Town Hall, where they will be giving out the details all candidates require for the May 5 vote.

This year will see all 38 district seats up for grabs, as well as some parish seats and a possible vote on changes to the national system from ‘first past the post’ to proportional representation (PR).

The meeting is for district agents only, please contact the elections office on 01424 787825 to book your space.

The council is also reminding the public they have to be registered to vote in the election.

Residents can make sure they have their say by getting on the electoral register.  Many people will have done so already by responding to forms which have been delivered to homes in the district.

If however, you missed this opportunity, you have until April 14 to register.  Visit www.rother.gov.uk for more information or call 01424 787825.

Once registered, you will receive a polling card at some time between late March and the end of April.  The polling card will give details of your polling station and how to vote.
