Missing the last train proved costly

A BEXHILL man drove without a licence or insurance because he missed the train home, a court heard on Wednesday.

Craig Yeo, of Elderwood Close, was fined 150 by Hastings magistrates and will have any future driving licence endorsed with six points.

He was stopped during a routine road policing check in Battle High Street on October 27.

Yeo, 19, first told the arresting officer he had a provisional licence and he was insured as a named driver on the Peugeot 106 he was driving.

He also said his passenger was supervising him.

Checks revealed he did not possess a licence, he was uninsured on the car and his passenger had not been driving long enough to monitor a learner in any event.

Yeo told the court: "I wanted to get to Bexhill and had missed the last train."
