Missing pensioner Joyce - police plan new search initiative

POLICE who since Sunday have mounted an intensive search operation for missing pensioner Joyce Wells plan a special operation tomorrow morning.

Officers will be outside Joyce's Pebsham Lane home. They will be questioning passers-by to see if anyone saw Joyce, 74, leave.

A police helicopter, sniffer dogs, a specialist search team and police volunteers have all been employed in the week-long quest. The search has included Pebsham estate, nearby farmland and woodland and the beach.

Inspector James Scott, head of the Bexhill Neighbourhood Policing Team, said after emerging from a major meeting this morning to establish the next phase of the search: "We are still spreading the search.

"We had a big meeting this morning. We looked at the map and established where we need to do searches again.

"There will be a big police presence tomorrow outside her home. We want to catch paper boys, postmen, milkmen and other passers-by who might have happened to be up and down the lane last week and seen her.

"We will be asking 'Did you notice anything?'
