New 1066 FSB committee elected

The Hastings and Rother division of the UK’s largest independent organisation for small and medium-sized businesses held their meeting at Di Paolo’s restaurant in Bexhill on Monday, November 16.

Azur St Leonards consultant Brett MacLean was made chairman, with writer Nicolae Trofin and taxi driver Doug Thorogood as vice-chairmen.

News Plus owner Mike Scott was named as secretary and restauranteur and ice cream producer John Di Paolo is the new treasurer.

Shirley Sanders of Swift Cars St Leonards, Kerry Byott from recruitment agency Top That Job and Peter Archer from Arcool commercial refrigeration were added to the committee.

Guest speaker for the AGM was the chairman and consort of East Sussex County Council Colin Belsey and his wife Terri Belsey.

The FSB will be promoting Small Business Saturday by encouraging key political figures within 1066 country to go shopping and support independent small businesses on Saturday, December 5.

Mr McLean and Mr Trofin will be visiting high streets with Huw Merriman MP and Hastings Borough Council leader Peter Chowney and Rother District Council leader Carl Maynard.

The group will be supporting retail outlets and eateries in an attempt to help promote Small Business Saturday.
