Now Bexhill Girlguiding Division has launched an appeal to find some more volunteers to help run the units in Bexhill.
Bob Butler, from the Division, said: “Girls from Bexhill are calling for more volunteers to help enrich the lives of girls and young women in their community.
“Rainbows and Brownies in the area have become so popular that they need more volunteers to help tackle waiting lists and give every girl the opportunities offered through guiding.
“Girls of all ages in Bexhill enjoy a hugely varied, girl-led programme of activities, incorporating everything from world issues and science to adventure sports, social action and international travel .”
Emily , aged nine, said: “Our Leaders have supported us to do amazing things. I’ve made brilliant friends, it’s really boosted my confidence and we have so much fun.”
Girlguiding welcomes volunteers of all backgrounds, abilities and faiths. From running a group to giving just one or two hours a month, volunteering is very flexible and can fit around a busy lifestyle.
There are a huge number of ways volunteers can support girls in guiding, from training as a Leader to smaller supporting roles including accounting, driving and event helpers.
Milly, a 24 year old Leader in Bexhill said: “It’s incredibly rewarding to volunteer with Girlguiding. I get so much out of seeing girls develop their confidence in a safe, girl-only space. I’ve made brilliant friends and learnt so many new skills – I would recommend guiding to everyone!”
Girlguiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK, with 559,996 members and runs Rainbows (5—7 years), Brownies (7—10 years), Guides (10—14 years) and The Senior Section (14—25 years).
