New plan for carers

Carers and voluntary sector workers are being invited to comment on a new three year plan for services for carers at a special event on January 22 in Eastbourne.

The Three Year Joint Commissioning Strategy for Carer's Services states how East Sussex County Council plans to spend the money available for carers' services.

This includes Central Government money available through Carers Grant, 'mainstream funding' from the Council's Adult Social Care budget and NHS funding, delivered through the local Primary Care Trusts.

It also sets out what kind of services the Council intends to ask the voluntary and independent sectors to provide and where those services should be located.

As part of the ongoing consultation into the strategy, the Council is holding a consultation event at between 10am and 1pm in Eastbourne Town Hall, where people will be able to comment on the proposals, which will be presented by representatives from the Adult Social Care department.

To book a place at the event, please contact the Admin Team on (01273) 481479. Lunch is available after the event and people with special dietary requirements are advised to tell the team beforehand.

We still want to hear from carers even if they are unable to attend the event. The draft strategy can be viewed at eastsussex.gov/uk/currentconsultations or a copy can be obtained by contacting Kelle Kingsley at [email protected] or on (01273) 481565.

People should send in comments to Kelle Kingsley by email or by writing to her at Sackville House, Brooks Close, Lewes, East Sussex, BN7 2FZ before Feb 19.
