New sergeant Dan takes up the beat

FOLLOWING the retirement of Trish Reeve-Fowkes as leader of Bexhill Police Neighbourhood Policing Team on April 1, her successor is Sergeant Dan Russell.

Sgt Russell has spent the past year fulfilling a similar role in Battle. He is no stranger to Bexhill, having served in the town before, notably spending three years as Sidley beat officer in the late 1990s.

His career with Sussex Police spans two decades, and he has been a sergeant for some 10 years. His decision to return to Bexhill had been made for “personal and family reasons”.

He said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as community sergeant for the Battle area and now I hope to bring some of what has been achieved there to my new role in Bexhill.

“My aims when I joined the team at Battle were to be visible, approachable and to bring a smile to people’s faces.

“I’d like to be able to continue in similar vein here, though I know Trish will be a hard act to follow.”

Sgt Russell said he welcomes contact from the community, and he can be reached on his mobile phone - 07789 091167 - or via 0845 60 70 999, extension 12 222.
