A TALK ABOUT A WALK: David and Shally thank all the people who came to hear the talk held in the Methodist Church Hall on Saturday, April 19. This event raised 92 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Your support and generosity is much appreciated.

NINFIELD VILLAGE SOCIETY: The sun shone for the Walk in the Wood last Saturday which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who took part. Robin and Terry escorted the first party, Daphne and Chris the second group.

The walkers talked of how much they had enjoyed it while they sat in the Reading Room garden and enjoyed the barbeque provided by members of the Carnival Committee, tea, coffee and fruit juices were available too. In addition a glass of wine was on offer courtesy of Roger, chairman of Ninfield Parish Council and his wife Carole. Sincere thanks are due to Lesley and Mark, their hard work was much appreciated.

The entire event was declared a great success and the Village Society committee are grateful for your support.

NINFIELD PARISH COUNCIL: There was a good attendance at the Parish Council annual meeting held on Thursday, May 1, there was a full agenda with items ranging from the Parish Plan, the school travel plan and landscaping around the Multicourt.

Mention was made of the East Sussex Village of the Year which Ninfield will be entering. Several local groups will send a representative to a meeting due to be held on Tuesday, May 13. For more information about this please do contact the parish clerk. It will now be possible to purchase a copy of Ninfield in the Nineties through the post office. This wonderful book about the 1890's win cost 5. For more information please contact the Parish Clerk on 01424 892 907.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, June 5 at 7.15pm in the Methodist Church Hall. Ninfield residents are very welcome to attend.

NINFlELD BOWLS CLUB: The glorious weather certainly helped all the players enjoy the matches played last Saturday and Sunday. The home match was played against Horam and Ninfield went to Iden on Sunday.

This weekend Ninfield will play a league match at Westfield on Saturday and will also be away on Sunday to the Observer.

Let us hope the weather is kind again.

NINFIELD METHODIST CHURCH: Dora rang to tell me that there has been a change to the time of the service on Sunday, May 11.

The service will now be held at 10.30am not 2.30pm. However Mrs Margaret Bickerdike will still be leading the service.

HOOE OPEN GROUP: The ladies meet this afternoon from 2pm when they will welcome their guest speaker Alan Fuller who has called his talk A Policeman's Lot, no doubt there will be opportunities to smile. After the talk there will be tea and biscuits to which Mr Fuller will be invited to join the ladies. Visitors are most welcome to come to the meeting which will be held in Hooe village hall and to meet the other members.

NINFIELD FLOWER GROUP: On the evening of Monday, May 12 the ladies will look forward to hearing their guest speaker Dorene Taylor who has called her talk Whiskers and Tales. This makes a complete change to the usual floral demonstration so there may be more laughs. The ladies will meet as usual in the Memorial Hall in good time for a 7.30pm start.

CHRISTIAN WOMEN'S FELLOWSHIP: There will be a meeting on Wednesday, May 14 but I have not been told who will be the speaker. If this group is of interest do go to the Reading Room, Church Lane in time to meet members before the prayers at 2.30pm.

FARMERS MARKET: Please do remember that the first of what will hopefully become a regular monthly feature in Ninfield will be held in the Memorial Hall, Bexhill Road on Saturday, May 17 from 10am until 12.30pm.
