Chestnut Tree House Update: 12 years of caring for life-limited children

It’s hard to believe that Chestnut Tree has just turned 12. Where does the time go? It only seems like yesterday that we were celebrating our 10th birthday year.

We have so many people to thank for supporting us not only this year, but since we opened in 2003. In that time we have expanded our Community Team to provide more care in families’ own homes, introduced our Neonates and Oncology services, started our Saplings and Youth Groups and provided bereavement support to over 100 families.

None of this would have been possible without the amazing support and generosity from our local community. Many businesses and organisations continue to choose to support us, either by making us their charity of the year, or by holding unique and exciting fundraising events in our name.

Schools, community groups and our Friends Groups across Sussex are always incredibly supportive and we are always thrilled to hear about the fun they have been having raising money for Chestnut Tree.

To support Chestnut Tree it’s not just about raising money – giving your time is just as valuable to us. We rely on a loyal band of volunteers out in the community and at the house itself, and there are loads of other people who are fantastic ambassadors for us, telling others about the work we do for children and their families both in their own homes and at the house itself.

Getting our message out there is vitally important so that we can reach those families who need us most.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Chestnut Tree House over the last 12 years. When we opened in 2003 we started caring for 30 children, now we have 300 children on our books, 70 of whom are in East Sussex. We couldn’t have done it without you.
