Hands up everywhere

Since launching our new Hands Up campaign we have had lots going on, with supporters doing a range of activities to help raise funds and awareness for Chestnut Tree.

In Eastbourne ESK Plants has named us as charity of the year, using their Gardening Club to help spread the word and raise funds. The Co-operative petrol filling station in Polegate also named us as their charity of the month, raising £300 from collecting tins at their tills.

We also have a gentleman from Seaford hoping to raise £20,000 by taking on a whole year of pain. He has already run an Ultra Marathon – 50 miles across the Downs from Worthing to Eastbourne – and is planning to run Hadrians Wall and then take on the Marathon des Sables, otherwise known as the toughest foot race on earth.

Over in 1066 Country we recently held a bucket collection in Bexhill and were joined by local MP Huw Merriman and District Councillor Pam Doodes. They helped spread the word about the work Chestnut Tree does and collected over £500 in the process.

We also had a supporter from Rye take on a phobia of heights by abseiling the London Orbit – the giant sculpture built as part of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. She lowered herself down 262 feet, and raised £600 for us.

As you can see, there are so many ways to get involved with Chestnut Tree, and I haven’t even touched upon volunteering.
