Art and seafront works

HAVING been wowed for years now by much of the avant-garde art in vision and sound at the De La Warr Pavilion, I imagine one of its voguish creators must have literally leapt on the current open-cast mining scene outside.

Here, surely by all that’s holy at Arts Council England, have laid tons of the good earth, just crying out for depiction from above, below, east, west, north and south; close-up and from a distance; and in all colours and none.

If conceptual artists can’t do anything with that lot, they must be going out of fashion.

Happy spring!
