Dropped from PCSO list

YOU may have seen in the Bexhill Observer paper a few weeks ago that 116 police PCSO applicants have been withdrawn in East Sussex.

I personally have a full time job that I’ve had for 13 years in Bexhill, but it had always been my dream to work for Sussex Police.

I had been training to become a PCSO for two-and-a-half years from as far back as 2007.

I had passed a very hard police exam paper that was as hard as a college A-level, also I had to pass a very hard police medical and fitness test.

This meant I had to lose two stone in weight and be very fit, walking two to four miles per day.

I found that I had passed all the tests and I was now just waiting for my start date this year.

Then, out the blue, came the phone call that I and 115 other applicants had been withdrawn for good that day.

I found this very upsetting as i had put so much hard work into this, as well as holding down a full time job.

I feel people should know just how much work went into becoming a PCSO and that it has cost me £400 to date in travelling to exams and medicals and doctors’ letters of fitness.

They told me I can in five years start again if I wish, but I am 44 now and I will have passed my best fitness by then.
