Had their say and had their way

One noticeable thing is that the Tories are operating more behind the scenes leaving the front running to the right-wing media, fifth columnists in the Labour party and assorted ‘useful idiots’ (pace Lenin).

The purpose is to force Corbyn to abandon all the things that got him elected and so portray him as weak and unreliable.

The recent focus has been on Stop the War which he helped to found in the wake of 9/11.

Here, he has stood firm, but sometime soon he must stamp his authority particularly on the PLP. No leader can survive without discipline in the ranks.

Corbyn carries far more than just the hopes of his immediate supporters.

The situation makes for grim reading with 13 million people living in poverty, foodbanks becoming the norm, malnutrition rising and skid row wages combined with benefit cuts.

The Tories’ priority has always been to defend the strong against the weak and protect the rich from the poor.

As the French philosopher put it: ‘The comfort of the rich depends upon an abundant supply of the poor’ (Voltaire).

As as the political wing of the establishment both are terrified of a Corbynist Labour victory in 2020.

Having only just survived the Scottish independence referendum after thinking it would be a cake-walk, they are determined not to make the same mistake again.

Hence this unprecedented assault which not event the BNP’s Nick Griffin endured.

But the end is nigh. The Tories have had their say, had their way and now they have had their day.

They are finished, they are yesterday’s people. Hasta la vista, baby!
