I fully support curry campaign
As a reader of your excellent paper who enjoys a good hot curry I read with great interest your two-page article on the changes to immigration rules which threaten the ability to bring in suitably trained curry chiefs to the UK.
This is a campaign I fully support, indeed I have, like many people, enjoyed a curry in many of the establishments featured in your article.
Curry houses create many jobs and support a large supply chain, they also bring a great deal of enjoyment to diners.
This policy which many will find out of step with life in the UK in 2016 seems driven by certain newspapers rather than any public demand, the government willing to keep said newspapers happy.
In your report Abul Azad , who runs the excellent Shiplu Tandoori in Bexhill and is one of the leading local voices calling for change, the suggestion is made all should come forward to pressure the government, a position I willingly support.
My concern though is that Abul Azad is a Conservative councillor on Rother District Council, which I suggest would mean he has at some point voted for the very party putting forward this policy he now wishes to change.
If the councillor is opposed to this policy perhaps he will further lend his name to other campaigns against government policies?
I do not wish to be too critical of the councillor as alongside running an excellent restaurant I understand, unlike some on Rother Council, he is a hard working local councillor, but for transparency and complete reporting the councillor’s role should have been included in your otherwise excellent report.
