A kind action from a stranger

I was in Marks & Spencer with my daughter on Tuesday evening, at the end of a long day.

Suddenly we realised that my handbag was missing containing not a great deal of cash but everything else that would constitute a long period of upset, disturbance and distress, including items related to other people’s property and the keys to the car I had borrowed, as well as my own life contents.

We looked around as calmly as possible but the natural assumption was that it had been stolen.

After the longest half hour of my life and before I’d managed to involve the police or cancel anything my daughter’s second enquiry revealed that it had been handed in – to our extreme relief!

In the general panic we weren’t able to find out who returned it to me and when I went back to enquire it seemed that no name or address had been left.

I’d like to sincerely thank the person[s] concerned through the pages of the Observer.

This could have happened to anyone and it happened to me.

It’s a kind action that has saved me so much stress and strain and also protected me from anyone less decent and honest. Thank you again!
