Shelters beyond belief

THE new seafront shelters / hideous sheds are beyond belief, taking the place of those lovely old Edwardian shelters. Must be a nightmare surely? We will all wake up and realise its just a bad dream.

Better with no shelters than these ugly cattle sheds designed and built by lunatic cock-eyed carpenters .

If you sit on the flat bench floorboard thing by the glass end you get roasted when the sun’s out and blasted by the howling wind the other side, shelters, they ain’t.... and the sea and promenade view is restricted too.

The gardens to be fair are quite nice, not keen on the oversize Lego stuff and ‘tombstones’...

The last time I looked at the new rowing club, it looked like one of Hitler’s channel gun emplacements,a massive four foot thick concrete roof. Are we expecting an invasion? Somebody should tell them the war’s over... it’s only for storing rowing boats, the sheds might have come in handy there.

I’ve lived here since 1947 and the old seafront look was a major part of the Edwardian seafront charm we all loved. It’s been desecrated, the so called designers should be made to live in the monstrous sheds for a few nights, they might get some idea of how awful and impractical they are and tear the things down.

At least you could spend a night in the old shelters - Oh, perhaps that’s the problem, let’s make a new shelter and make it so uncomfortable that no one can bear to look it, use it, or sleep in it.

I hope to God they leave the lovely old shelters alone on the Eastern end of the prom...I know I speak for the majority Bexhill residents and visitors.
