Step in right direction

BEXHILL High's decision to cut the late finish from four days down to two is a step in the right direction.

But can’t Mr Conn and the governors see that the whole structure of the school day is wrong?

The breaks are too short, lunch at half an hour gives pupils little time to queue, find a seat and eat, let alone talk to friends or relax.

It seems to me that a return to the original school timetable with longer breaks would be very popular.

A 3.10pm finish would please a lot of parents and pupils and if you continue to offer extra activities - classes up to 5pm on a voluntary basis - then you will end up pleasing everyone.

How could you fail, with fresh happy pupils and parents that actually support the school?

“Satisfactory” can be a thing of the past.
