Through your paper I would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to the many supporters and businesses who have helped to make our events to date so successful.

Our very popular quiz night in March raised £548.00, while our Spring Fair at St Martha’s Church Hall in April raised £467.

We held a ‘New2U’ Clothes sale at St Augustine’s in May which was great fun and very well attended, raising £1008.

Sandy Melvin opened her garden for Macmillan in June and held a coffee morning in July at St Marks in addition to a quiz at the Chilli Tree last year and presented us with a cheque for £577.

A Bollywood evening was also held in June in memory of the husband of one of our members, and this raised £2161. Our party at Manor Barn in July raised £1,368.

To date, this year through our own fundraising efforts, bequests, and donations, we have raised a little over £10,000.

Our thanks go to our Friends of Macmillan Supporters, The Cooden Beach Hotel, Alfredo and Sue’s, Mowgli, the Plews family, The Hindu Association Hastings, staff at Manor Barn, the Chandeliers, Fairlight Hall, Barracloughs ,Premier Nails and Beauty and the Waterfront, as well as the members of our Committee, for their hard work and generosity.

Our next event is a walk along the Seafront on Sunday, August 13. It is our aim to have 100 people walking a mile from the Richmond Road toilets to the bottom of Galley Hill, each raising a minimum of £10 in sponsorship.

Councillor Abul Azad will be opening the event and walking with us. If you would like to join us and would like a sponsorship form, contact us on [email protected] or 07935173950, or follow us on Facebook.
