Unifying factor

He may be right that the Cabinet members have brought some hardworking councillors into disrepute, but we may feel that others have brought it on themselves by staying silent on certain key issues or by playing the game of follow the leader.

Area committees of Rother District Council will surely offer more of the same, whereas a town council would be independent of Rother and able to make decisions without reference to Rother. Like area committees, town councils can get devolved powers over planning, but both can only have it in a limited way. A town council with new councillors might give the town the unifying factor it so badly needs and give it contol over some of the elements important to the people of Bexhill.
