We do retain a right to veto

One of the many myths peddled by the Brexit campaigners in this paper and elsewhere is that the EU dictates to Britain what it should and should not do.

This is simply untrue. Britain gets its way on legislation 87 per cent of the time and so is one of the most successful countries in getting what it wants out of the EU.

The London School of Economics crunched the numbers: comparing what each country wants to happen in a negotiation with what actually happens, the UK is the fourth most successful country in the EU.

If you look at the issues the UK cares about most, it is the second most successful.

The UK retains its veto in really important areas such as foreign policy, taxation, and the budget framework.

Remember a vote to remain in Europe offers certainty and the opportunity to play a significant part in changing the EU but a vote to leave will give all of us total uncertainty!
