What a lovely tea

WHAT a lovely tea we were privileged to enjoy on Wednesday June 27, courtesy of Bexhill Talking Newspaper Association, and for me a memorable farewell after 25 years of service with the association.

It did seem somewhat strange to be a guest and not have any of the usual responsibilities!

Associations work best with good teamwork and I have been privileged to have the support of such teams.

As well as the past leader of A Team, Peter Horn, I have enjoyed unwavering support from the leaders of B and C Teams, Pat and Rita, and have no hesitation in leaving D Team in the capable hands of Brian and Poppy, loyal D Team members for many years.

Ron happily stepped into my former news team, and the committee representation of the magazine’s interests is now in the safe hands of Rita’s outstanding skills and expertise.

To the many who have given emergency help to D Team - especially Peter Horn and Bela, my deep appreciation and thanks.

I have enjoyed meeting many listeners, hearing about their thoughts and concerns and I know that for those who work with the association, the listeners’ interests are paramount.

Magazine teams provide their own material, the Bexhill Observer newspaper freely provides use of their news, and the Post Office contributes by free delivery of the tapes.

In this 35th year of the Bexhill Talking Newspaper, I wish all listeners and volunteers many more happy years of service and listening together.
