Why could I see so few masks on my walk in Bexhill?

On Sunday 27th December my wife and I decided to take our daily exercise by walking on the promenade at Bexhill at around midday.

Before leaving home we both put our face masks on as advised.

It was a beautiful sunny day. We expected that the weather would bring out some other walkers but we were amazed to see just how many people were about. There were a few hundred people walking mainly in groups.

We sat on the sea wall and during the time we were there only about two dozen or so passed us wearing any form of mask.

Some seemed surprised at us (our masks?), and we were certainly the ‘odd ones out’!

Not long ago this area was one of the lowest places on the Covid pandemic map – now it’s in the highest tier – little wonder when there is such a blatant disregard for the warnings that the health authorities and government issue.

Many of these people had children with them – surely they should consider them and the danger they are putting them in?

If, as many, do not yet believe that the danger is real, we would just say to them – say that to the families of all those lost to this dreadful virus.
