A Bexhill charity shop is to hold a special event next month in a bid to bring in new volunteers.

The Oxfam shop in Western Road will hold a volunteer open day on Saturday April 4, 10am-2pm.

Daniel Robinson, volunteer recruitment coordinator at the Bexhill branch, said: “We are holding a fabulous volunteer recruitment day and inviting you all along.

“I know what you are thinking - yes, there will be cakes!

“We will be giving a cake to everyone who hands in a completed application form on the day.

“We will have volunteers on hand to answer any questions you have and talk about types of opportunities available.”

The shop is looking for enthusiastic people to fill the following volunteer roles: supervisors/key holders, social media manager, visual merchandisers/artists, stock sourcers, men’s and womenswear clothing specialists and clothing steamers.

Daniel told the Observer: “We really are a team who care about each other and the good that we do.

“Every day we go out of our way to give someone something to smile about from the service they receive with us.

“The ideal people will be happy to take on other roles when needed as a part of our adaptive team.

“People who have volunteered with us in the past have gotten themselves into jobs and we really do believe in progression and training.

“We all learn every day of our lives and sometimes it’s good to pass that knowledge on.

“As long as you have two people that can vouch for you (ie a previous manager, tutor or another volunteer) we want to see you!”

If you are able to come to the volunteer open day on April 4, or you would like some further information about the event or volunteering for Oxfam, please contact the branch via its Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/OxfamBexhill
