Pavilion short-listed for construction industry award

THE De La Warr Pavilion is among 40 projects short-listed from more than 180 entries for this year's British Construction Industry Awards.

The short-list from entries for the 2008 awards - the BCI's 21st anniversary year - were announced on Friday.

The BCI says its awards are the most coveted and rigorously-judged in the construction world.

All short-listed schemes are visited by members of the judging panel. The BCI Awards have also been host to the Prime Minister's Better Public Building Awards since 2001.

The short-list includes projects of all sizes and types which are eligible for Project Awards..

All are also eligible irrespective of size, depending on their nature, for awards including:

*the Conservation Award sponsored by Hyder Consulting

*the Local Authority Award sponsored by Mouchel

*he Environmental Award sponsored by Atkins

*the Regeneration Award sponsored by Gifford

*the Judges' Special Award sponsored by Mott MacDonald

*the Best Practice Award sponsored by May Gurney.

A special 21st Anniversary Award sponsored by Scott Wilson will honour a person who has made a significant contribution to the construction industry during the past 21 years, in line with the aims and objectives of the Awards.

Categories include small civil engineering projects of up to 3m; building projects of between 3m and 50m; civil engineering projects of between 3m and 50m; major projects of over 50m;

The De La Warr Pavilion is competing in the building projects between 3m and 50m class. It is up against:
