Pebsham RDA Christmas Party

A Christmas party held by Pebsham 1066 Riding For Disabled raised around £250 at the weekend.

The event was held at Pebsham Community Centre and featured live music from two local groups - Eyes That Kill, and I Get Flashbacks - as well as disco from the Gemini Roadshow, and a buffet.

The evening was organised by Pebsham 1066 RDA chair person Mel Watkins who said: "It was really good. We had the two bands who played for us for free and they were really great.

"Most of the people who came were involved with the stables in some way. It went very well".

The charity is currently raising funds to buy a wheelchair lift for disabled riders and so all efforts are geared towards achieving that goal this year.

"The wheelchair lift we want to buy would be on the trailer and enable us to wheel the person in, actually on the trailer, and then lift them up so we can get them onto the horse safely.

"It will cost several thousand pounds, so that is our aim this year. It sounds like a lot but we are getting better each year and we are raising more money.

"Unfortunately there are so many charities around so it is difficult to keep writing to people and keep on asking for money, and we do appreciate that. That is why we are doing all the events this year - we are hopeful we will get the money for it. We need to."
