Pebsham school presents award to Observer's John Dowling
"We managed to surprise him nicely", is how Pebsham school's head teacher Pat Strickson described the reaction from Bexhill Observer's Deputy Editor, John Dowling, when the school presented him with an award to commemorate his retirement.
Pat said: "He got a very pleasant surprise, finding all two hundred and twenty children and staff waiting for him in the hall. We sang to him and presented him with an Achievement Award thanking him for his friendship and support and wishing him a very happy retirement."
Doing the honours and presenting John with the award was the School Council's Chair boy and Chair girl.
Accepting his award John thanked the school and said he was "highly delighted."
