Pebsham teacher goes that extra mile for his pupils

TEACHER Paul Giradot's parting gift to Pebsham Community Primary School before leaving for a new post has been to undertake a triathlon.

At morning assembly last week he was cheered by pupils after Sue Target, who was taking assembly, explained how he had swum a mile, cycled 30 miles and then run five miles in aid of the school.

Pupils are still bringing in their sponsorship money, promised as their teacher undertook his sporting gesture.

After assembly, Mr Giradot explained that he regularly cycled to work and had sought a way of doing something practical for Healthy Living Week.

"I had thought of swimming in the sea. Then I opted for a triathlon.

"Then I decided to swim at Battle Abbey School's pool (80 lengths).

"For my cycle ride, I went from Bexhill to Pevensey, out to Ashburnham Place, Battle and Hastings.

"Then I ran the last five miles to along the seafront to Bexhill."
