The project asked local people who love the festival to design a leaf which will be used to creative a huge collaborative picture to celebrate the four day festival, which had to be cancelled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The completed artwork will be displayed at a location in Hastings and St Leonards as soon as it is safe to do so.

People used a variety of different mediums and techniques to create the colourful leaves, including collage, embroidery and textiles.

A spokesperson for the project said: “Creating a work in this way, not only allows everyone to view it and share it online, but also ensures that it can be enjoyed by future generations for years to come.

“The project is not only a celebration of the annual, fabulous, Jack in the Green festival but a testament to an amazing community - people young and old, who may never have met each other, from their home, during this difficult time, have managed to work together to produce this strong and beautiful collaborative work. We would like to say a huge thank-you to everyone involved.”
