Carers week 2020: Carers O'Clock project launched

Culture Shift, based in Lewes, has been commissioned by East Sussex County Council to deliver a project that specifically focuses on supporting carers to look after their own physical and mental health.

This project is based on the idea that carers need to be cared for too and this is more important than ever, with many carers looking after loved ones at home during lockdown, with limited access to the support that is normally available to them.

Carers O’Clock has been devised to plug the gap in services caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Every fortnight a bulletin of specially designed resources is delivered to individual carers and organisations and on alternate fortnights a virtual zoom cafe is hosted by Culture Shift and

Care For The Carers, the specialist carers hub for East Sussex. Bulletins and details of the virtual cafe are available to download free of charge from www.cultureshift.org.uk where you can also join the mailing list to receive future bulletins direct.

Julia Roberts, director of Culture Shift said; “It has been amazing to see the public support for NHS staff and care workers during the lockdown but I’m not sure everyone is as aware of the people who are caring for people at home.

“Carers O’Clock is designed to support people during these very challenging times and we’d like carers everywhere to get involved with the project, especially this week.”
