Fire crews respond to 'loud bang' coming from St Leonards flat

Five fire engines were called to reports of a loud bang and the smell of burning coming from a St Leonards flat.

East Sussex Fire was called to Terrace Road, St Leonards, at 8.02pm on Monday (June 1).

A spokesman said firefighters were responding to a loud bang and the smell of burning coming from the 9th floor of a building.

East Sussex Fire sent fire engines from Pevensey, Battle, Bexhill, Bohemia Road and The Ridge.

The fire has now been extinguished, according to an East Sussex Fire spokesman at 9.06pm.

"There were no injuries and the fire has been established as accidental," East Sussex Fire said.
