Hastings Old Town Easter Procession of Witness will be online

The Good Friday Stations of the Cross event which normally sees a procession through the streets of Hastings Old Town, will be in a virtual format this year.

The Procession of Witness, usually involves members of the Old Town Parish re-enacting the last hours of Jesus, leading up to the crucifixion.

Organiser Heather Leech explained: “Members of both parishes in the Old Town the C of E’s and the Catholics have been recording their lines socially distanced, remotely on Zoom or phones so that they will be spliced together.

“Over 30 people will be involved though normally hundreds would be watching.

“The recording, showing the stations of the cross, will be shown on the Old Town Parish Hastings Facebook page and on the stclemallsaints YouTube channel. Each Station of the Cross section will be released through the day according to the timings of the original event, starting at 6am.”

The traditional Sussex Good Friday marbles on Winkle Island, at Hastings has been cancelled this year.
