Large emergency response to Eastbourne flat fire

East Sussex Fire said firefighters from Eastbourne, Bexhill, Hastings, Pevensey, Herstmonceux, Hailsham and Seaford attended the scene at 2.07am on Sunday (February 14).

Eastbourne Borough Council said it has accommodated everyone affected by the fire and ‘will continue to provide support over the coming days’.

Crews used six breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and one in seven foam to extinguish the flames, which a spokesman said were coming from the first floor of the building.

The fire service was also supported at the scene by paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) and Sussex Police.

The fire was extinguished at 4.01am.

A fire investigation will take place later on today, according to East Sussex Fire.

The council thanked East Sussex Fire for their ‘heroic response’ to the fire.
