Man dies after collapsing in Rye

A man has died after collapsing in Rye, the ambulance service has confirmed.

Emergency services were called to Winchelsea Road, Rye, shortly before 1pm on Monday (February 22).

On Thursday (February 25) a spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service said, despite the best efforts of emergency services, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A picture showed four police cars and four ambulance vehicles in attendance.

Earlier on Thursday, a Sussex Police spokesman said officers were called to the scene in response to a medical incident.

Police confirmed a man had died but said it was ‘not a police matter’.
