Warning for snow and ice in Hastings, Bexhill, Rye and Battle

Hastings, Bexhill, Rye and Battle have been issued with a two-day warning for snow and ice.

There is a yellow warning for snow across the whole area throughout Wednesday (February 10) with temperatures expected to remain low and to drop below freezing overnight into Thursday.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice from midnight on Thursday morning until 11am on Thursday.

Much of Hastings and Bexhill saw a dusting of snow on Sunday and Monday, with Battle seeing a heavier snowfall.

The snow, and resulting ice, has led to a road closure on Hoath Hill, north of Battle, from Eatenden Lane to Solomons Lane.

However, the area escaped most of the snow and travel disruption seen in neighbouring Kent, where areas of the county, including Folkestone, saw much heavier snowfall.

The recent cold snap is due to end over the weekend with warmer weather forecast for Sunday and early next week.
