Young Bexhill College player who is part of the Chelsea Academy wins Womens Football scholarship in USA

With Women’s Football growing in popularity a local girl is looking to prove herself on the world stage.

Bexhill College Women’s Football Academy player, Izzy Foot, is celebrating receiving confirmation that she is eligible for a football scholarship in the USA. Izzy recently received the good news after a successful trial game with Future Elite Sports, a UK based scholarship company.

Izzy, who currently studies Level 3 Sport and is part of the Chelsea Football Club Foundation, beamed with excitement at the news and explained: “I attended a trial game at Surrey University with fellow Academy members who are also hoping to travel to the United States to pursue a career in football.

“Following the game, I was pleased to receive confirmation that I met their criteria and will be eligible to apply to study and play in the USA”.

Izzy was inspired to attend the trials after another member of the Bexhill College Women’s Football Academy, Lillie McSweeney, recently secured an International football scholarship in Kansas, USA.

Lillie looks forward to being a part of the Highland Community College inaugural women’s soccer program and commented: “This news was amazing; I genuinely didn’t think it would happen.”

Academy director, Sean Noble, commented “This is fantastic news for both Izzy and the Women’s Football Academy at Bexhill College.

“Izzy is a player of great potential, who has performed very well this year. It is great to see another player progress through the Academy and challenge themselves.

“Along with Lillie McSweeney, we are very proud of the opportunities they have both carved out for themselves through hard work and determination.

“We are also proud of how well the Academy is performing in regards to creating opportunities for young players throughout Sussex.”

Izzy’s next steps in her application will be complete her Level 3 Sport course at the College and to collect footage from games, when football can safely restart, to send to college football coaches in the USA.

Izzy said: “This opportunity will allow me to test myself at the highest levels I am capable of whilst gaining my qualifications. The USA has an established model for Women’s Football and I am really excited by the prospect of being part of this system.”
