Pete Hooper, aged 31, who works as a tiler, completed the solo ride in 64 hours on September 20 and 22.

He said: “The ride was a lot harder than I ever imagined it would be and I experienced things I never thought I would.

“St Michael’s Hospice is an amazing organisation which helps people who are suffering when they need it the most.

“They were there for my father and family in the last days of his life and for the families of close friends.

“It means a lot to me to complete my personal goal and dedicate my effort to a great cause and raise as much money as possible to help this charity to continue the great work they do.

“Please help me support this worthwhile cause by making a donation and supporting me.”

Pete was quick to thank his support team of Dan Henchy, Robin Thompson and his girlfriend Michelle Black.

He said: “This wasn’t just about me riding my bike. I would not have even made it to the start without my amazing support team who gave up their time, sat in a minibus for three days and followed me the 837 miles up the country, looking after me and my bike every step of the way.

“I could not have asked for more. They kept me on the right route, made sure I was fed, watered, warm and dry and most of all safe.

“Dan Henchy and Robin Thompson are true friends who would have done anything for me. I am proud to have them as my friends and to have experienced this together.

“Also a big thank you to my amazing girlfriend Michelle Black who since we have met has supported and helped me every step of the way.

“When things started to get really tough on the ride her support, comfort and love gave me the strength to keep going.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone, friends, family and St. Michael’s Hospice supporters. I never dreamed that I would get so much support, I was really moved when your kind words of support were being read out to me and all the money you were donating, - over £3500 for St Michaels hospice. Your money will help so many people.

“And last but not least I should mention my Giant TCR bike - not one punture during the ride!
