Pier businessmen tour DLWP

A group of businessman involved in piers enjoyed a grand tour of the De La Warr Pavilion last week.

The De La Warr Pavilion’s director of external relations Sally Ann Lycett hosted National Piers Society chairman Tim Wardley and Eastbourne Pier owner Abid Gulzar.

The executive vice-president for Openwide International Entertainment Group – a company supplying entertainment for a number of piers – Rory Holburn and 1066 Federation of Small Businesses chairman Brett MacLean also joined the tour.

The group of entrepreneurial businessmen were shown around the 80-year-old pavilion before enjoying tea on the terrace.

Mr Wardley was very impressed by the People’s Palace.

“It is truly amazing to see such an iconic art deco pavilion such as the De La Warr so well kept and loved,” he said.

“It’s a real jewel in the crown for Bexhill tourism.”
