Planetarium visits Sidley School

STAR-STRUCK children at Sidley Primary school enjoyed a visit from the Planetarium based at Herstmonceux Science Centre.

The event was held to support the reception and year 5 pupils’ Space Learning Journeys classes.

Children from reception dressed up as astronauts for the day in preparation for their ‘journey into space’.

The pupils were able to see for themselves the planets in our solar system close up, and experience live pictures from space.

Children in year 5 said they learned a lot of interesting facts. One child said: ”Space is really interesting because you don’t know how long it is and how wide it is.”

Another said: “We learnt that if Jupiter gets any bigger it will become a star.”

Teachers say the visit has inspired all the children to find out more about space.
