The group received £240, thanks to PC Alison Puddefoot, disability engagement officer for the force’s Safer East Sussex Team.

The money secures the group’s town centre base for another year.

PC Puddefoot was able to secure the grant from the Police Property Act Fund, made up of monies received by the police from property confiscated by order of the court and then sold.

The group’s aims are to help support people with access issues and address things that affect people with physical and sensory disabilities. HRDF chairman Ann Hadland said: “One of the problems we were facing was finding a venue that was affordable and accessible.

“The Pop In centre in Hastings town centre is ideal and the grant from Sussex Police ensures we can continue to meet there as a committee for the next 12 months. The funding is very much appreciated and we would like to thank PC Puddefoot and Sussex Police for their kind help.”

HRDF is a voluntary group that is affiliated to East Sussex Disability Association. It meets and work regularly with councillors in Hastings and Bexhill to work on mobility and equality issues.
