The county’s MPs, since the turn of the year, have been working with the Department for Health and the East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust in order for a bid to be included in the next phase of hospital rebuilding across England.

The MPs include Caroline Ansell, Maria Caulfield, Nusrat Ghani, Sally-Ann Hart and Huw Merriman, who want Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill hospitals upgraded and modernised.

In a joint statement, the MPs said, “Our local NHS workforce have given their all to our community. We are committed to working with them to improve the hospitals which residents rely upon.

“We hope this local effort will be recognised and that our hospital buildings will receive further investment from our government.”
