£90k spin job - Director of Communications appointed at NHS South East Coast

Stephanie Hood has been appointed Director of Communications at NHS South East Coast. She has 12 years professional communications experience working with the NHS and the private sector and is expected to take up her post at the beginning of March.

Currently at the Department of Health, Stephanie has been responsible for developing improvements to communications in the NHS and played a leading part in the introduction of a single corporate identity across the health service. She has led communications for two important national consultations, about patient choice and the NHS Plan.

She has also worked in an NHS acute trust, with the pharmaceutical industry and in the communications team for the London Regional Office of the NHS Executive.

She said "I am very much looking forward to taking up this post and working with colleagues in the south east to develop and improve communications with staff, patients, the public and key stakeholders in NHS services."

The NHS is publicly accountable and has a duty to engage effectively with its patients and their families, its staff and all its partner organisations. Stephanie, who lives in Kent, will lead this work across the region.

NHS South East Coast is the local headquarters of the NHS for Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Local NHS organizations commission and provide primary, acute, mental health services and ambulance services to a population of 4.2 million.
