Pub is a great fundraiser for cancer charity

A pub in Sidley is one of the top fundraisers for Little Heroes Cancer Trust - a children’s cancer charity that offers support for families of children being treated for cancer.

The New Inn, on Ninfield Road, received the accolade after raising more than £4,000 for Little Heroes Cancer Trust and being named in the top three of fundraisers for the charity around the country.

Licensees Jo and Ian Vinall raised funds and the temperature when they held a charity fire walking event at the New Inn last September in aid of Little Heroes Cancer Trust.

To mark this achievement, Jo and Ian were presented with an award by Chief Executive of Little Heroes Cancer Trust, Colin Nesbitt.

Ian was delighted to receive the award saying: “Receiving the award was a real surprise and great for the pub and our regulars.”

“We try to do one big charity event each year, and having done our research, we thought a fire walk would be a bit different and a great way to support Little Heroes”

“We asked the customers, they were up for it and it was a great night.”

Colin Nesbitt, chief executive of Little Heroes Cancer Trust, said: “I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to Jo and Ian for supporting Little Heroes Cancer Trust by hosting one of our fire walking events.

“I would also like to say a huge thank you to the customers of the New Inn and the people of Bexhill-on-Sea who sponsored their hot-footed friends and helped raise so much money for our cause. Thanks to their generosity we can continue to help bring smiles to the faces of children who are being treated for cancer.” For more information
