RAFA Jumble Sale

A CROWD of eager shoppers began to queue early at the entrance to the Royal Air Force Family Association (RAFA) Albatross club headquarters on Saturday, all ready to snap up the many bargains which were to be found at the clubs annual jumble sale.

With books, DVD's, videos, shoes, clothes, bric a brac, glassware and china, and the chance to purchase teas, coffees, homemade cakes and scones, and it was easy to see why the event was so popular.

There was also a wide range of age groups in attendance and club member Evelyn Oliver said that a number of teenage men were also out bargain hunting.

She said: " They were looking to buy hats and we sold them a trilby and a Christmas hat - then they bought a game of draughts which they said they were going to take to the beach to play!"

She added: "It was brilliant well attended day."

RAFA Chairman Len Oliver thanked club members for their donations and said they raised 276 for club funds.
