RAIL WARNING: London Victoria trains diverted due to works

Trains have been diverted due to engineering work taking place between London Victoria and Balham.

The rail service provider said lines will be closed from 1.10am on Sunday until 4am on Monday (February 15).

Some services will be diverted to run to and from London Bridge and buses will run between London Victoria and Balham stations.

Passengers are advised to check their journeys before they travel and delays are also expected.

A statement on the Southern Rail website reads: “The following changes apply:

“A half hourly service will operate between London Bridge and Brighton calling at East Croydon, Gatwick Airport, Haywards Heath and Brighton.

“Hourly London Bridge to Ore service calling at East Croydon, Gatwick Airport, Haywards Heath, Wivelsfield, Lewes, Polegate, Eastbourne, Hampden Park, Pevensey & Westham, Cooden Beech, Collington, Bexhill, St Leonards Warrior Sq, Hastings and Ore.

“Hourly London Bridge to Portsmouth Harbour service calling at East Croydon, Gatwick Airport, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Preston Park, Hove, Shoreham-by-Sea, Worthing, Barnham, Chichester, Southbourne, Emsworth, Havant, Fratton, Portsmouth & Southsea and Portsmouth Harbour.

“London Bridge to Tonbridge services will run between Redhill and Tonbridge.

“London Victoria to Bognor Regis / Dorking / East Grinstead services are diverted to start / terminate at London Bridge.

“London Victoria to Caterham services will run between Balham and Caterham.

“London Victoria to Sutton services will run between Selhurst and Sutton and between Balham and Sutton via Crystal Palace.

“London Bridge to Crystal Palace via Tulse Hill services will not run. No trains will call at East Dulwich or North Dulwich, passengers may use local buses to connect with other Southern train services.

“Due to lack of platform capacity at Clapham Junction the service between Clapham Junction and Watford Junction will not run, passengers are advised to use Southern replacement buses between Clapham Junction and London Victoria, London Underground between Victoria and Euston, London Midland services between London Euston and Watford Junction.

“Ticket acceptance on London Underground is available between Balham and London Bridge, Victoria to Blackfriars and London Bridge, London Bridge / Blackfriars / Balham to Euston all reasonable routes, (the circle line is closed on this day, but district line is open).

“Gatwick Express services will not run. Passengers are advised to travel to London Bridge and use Southern services to / from Gatwick Airport. Overnight services will be replaced by buses between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport.”
